Cool and Refreshing Lime Tea

Nothing cools you down like a fresh cold drink. How about some lime tea?

Iced Lime Tea

Limes go perfect with most types of teas that people prefer cold. Our family is definitely big fans of green tea, but we also love our Southern Iced Tea — except me. I know, I know. It’s a crime if you’re a Southerner and don’t like Southern Sweet tea, but hey — I still like grits! So, you forgive me now, right?

Even though I am not a fan of sweet tea, my friends and family are. Just for them, I serve up this iced lime tea often — especially during Spring and Summer. If I was making sweet iced tea for my mom it would have ice all the way to the top of the glass! So, just remember that if you are hosting some Southerners, they like their sweet tea with lots and lots of ice!

I whole-heartedly recommend throwing some fresh mint in there, or even fresh raspberries. Anything to dress up the drink and add a flavor twist. Cute straws are a nice added touch too!

LIME TEA

Ingredients:

8 regular-sized tea bags
1 1/2 cups sugar
Juice from 6 limes
Fresh mint or raspberries for a flavor twist and cute garnish

Directions:

In 4 qt sauce pan or large tea kettle, boil water and tea bags together. After boiling, let steep for five minutes. Add sugar to a one gallon tea pitcher. Next, add boiled tea. Add enough drinking water to equal one gallon of tea. Now, add lime juice. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Serve over ice and garnish with mint sprigs if desired. Best served very, very cold with lots of ice!
