Valentine’s Day is only a few weeks away!
Let’s help you find some simple and easy crafts to make this holiday special!
If you ever get to come over and visit my home, you may find a kid or two with their nose stuck in a book — especially before bedtimes.
If you have a reluctant reader, this craft may be just the thing you need to get your munchkins on the reading train.
Busy moms like you need to take time to spend with their little ones creating memories.
But, who has time for complicated crafts?
These bookmarks are simple and versatile.
Add your own twist to it to make it fit your busy schedule’s needs.
I recommend making a few yourself first so the kids have something to follow.
It is much easier when kids can follow a sample piece.
Sometimes kids are overwhelmed with the responsibility of creating their own masterpiece.
Encourage them to come up with their own designs, but also let them know they are free to copy yours — after all, you’re their hero, right?
Valentine’s Day Bookmarks
Here’s what you’ll need:
Cardstock in your choice of colors OR sturdy folders you can cut into long rectangles
scissors
glue
glitter
stickers
markers
ribbon (your choice of color)
pinking sheers
hole punch
Instructions:
Cut rectangles from cardstock or folders that are approximately 2 inches in width and 8 inches in length.
Next, punch two holes in the top of the rectangle so you can thread the ribbon through for a bow. Place the holes very close together.
Then, thread the ribbon through and tie a simple bow.
Now, cut the top and bottom with pinking shears to create a textured top and bottom.
Hand these to your munchkins and let them embellish the bookmarks!
If your kids are older, let them measure and cut out the bookmarks and the other beginning steps.
After they are done creating their masterpieces, cut four small hearts, identical in shape and size, and glue on each side of the bottom of the hanging ribbon.
This will create a weighted bookmark look.
Let bookmarks thoroughly dry before using.
Optional: Write out fun sayings for your kids to write down.
Some fun Valentine’s Day sayings are:
Kiss me!
Don’t bug me!
Be Mine
Let’s stick together.
You’re Purr-fect!
I’m blue without you.
I like you beary much.
I’m “ruff” without you.
No bones about it, you’re top dog!
