For the filling
- 16 oz cream cheese, softened
- 30 oz imitation crab (or real crab), chopped
- ¼ cup chopped green onion
- 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp salt
For the noodles
- 16 oz egg noodles or penne pasta, cooked according to package directions
For the sauce
- 4 tbsp butter
- 3 tbsp flour
- 3 cups milk
- Salt and pepper to taste
For the topping
- ½ cup shredded parmesan cheese
- ½ cup panko breadcrumbs
- 3 tbsp butter, softened
Instructions
- Cook noodles according to package directions.
- In a large bowl, mix the filling ingredients (cream cheese, crab, green onion, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, and salt) together until incorporated.
- To make the sauce, melt butter in a medium saucepan over low heat.
- Add flour and cook for a minute or two. Slowly add milk, stirring constantly, and keep stirring until the sauce thickens.
- Place half the noodles in a greased 9×13 baking pan.
- Spread half the cream cheese mixture over the noodles, then pour half the sauce on top.
- Add a second layer of noodles, then the remaining cream cheese mixture, and pour the remaining sauce over that layer.
- Cover with foil and bake in a 350°F oven for 30 minutes.
- While the casserole bakes, combine the parmesan cheese, panko crumbs, and butter in a small bowl.
- Remove foil and sprinkle with the topping.
- Set the oven to broil.
- Place the casserole under the broiler for 2–3 minutes, or until golden brown.
