Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • 2¼ cup flour
  • 1½ tsp ground ginger
  • ¾ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup white chocolate chips
  • ½ cup mini m & ms

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl mix together the powdered sugar, butter and vinegar.
  4. Mix in the flour, ground ginger, baking soda and salt until coarse crumbs are formed.
  5. Using your hands knead the dough crumbs into a ball. If the dough is too dry, add in some milk or cream 1 tsp at a time.
  6. Place the ball of dough on a lightly floured surface.
  7. Roll the dough out ⅛ inch thick.
  8. Cut out Christmas tree shapes with the cookie cutter.
  9. Place on the prepared cookie sheet.
  10. Bake 8-10 minutes until lightly browned.
  11. Allow to cool a few minutes on the cookie sheet before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  12. When the cookies have cooled, place the white chocolate chips in a Ziploc bag.
  13. Seal the bag tightly and place in a bowl of hot water until the chips have melted.
  14. Snip a tiny hole in the corner of the Ziploc bag and drizzle the chocolate over the cookies to make it look like a string of lights.
  15. Place candy coated chocolate bits on the drizzled chocolate.
  16. Allow chocolate to set before serving.

Notes

You can freeze the unbaked cookie dough ahead of time for convenience. See post for instructions.
