These Christmas Tree Cookies Make the Holidays Sweeter!
Get ready to bake a few batches of some amazing Christmas cookies.
Plus, these are shaped and decorated like Christmas trees!
Ingredients For Ginger Christmas Tree Cookies
- Powdered sugar. Only one cup is needed!
- Unsalted butter. Make sure it’s softened.
- Vinegar. Plain, white vinegar.
- Flour. All purpose flour makes the perfect Christmas cookie!
- Ground ginger. This adds holiday flavor.
- Baking soda. 3/4 teaspoons are needed.
- Salt. Just a little to bring out all the flavors.
- White chocolate chips. The yummiest ingredient!
- Mini M & M’s. This makes the Christmas ornaments for the cookies.
How to Make Ginger Christmas Tree Cookies
Preheat oven to 400F.
Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
In a large bowl mix together the powdered sugar, butter and vinegar.
Mix in the flour, ground ginger, baking soda and salt until coarse crumbs are formed.
Using your hands knead the dough crumbs into a ball.
If the dough is too dry, add in some milk or cream 1 teaspoon at a time.
Place the ball of dough on a lightly floured surface.
Roll the dough out 1/8 inch thick.
Cut out Christmas tree shapes with the cookie cutter.
Place on the prepared cookie sheet.
Bake 8-10 minutes until lightly browned.
Allow to cool a few minutes on the cookie sheet before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
When the cookies have cooled, place the white chocolate chips in a Ziploc bag.
Seal the bag tightly and place in a bowl of hot water until the chips have melted.
Snip a tiny hole in the corner of the Ziploc bag and drizzle the chocolate over the cookies to make it look like a string of lights.
Place candy coated chocolate bits on the drizzled chocolate.
Allow chocolate to set before serving.
Can You Freeze the Ginger Christmas Tree Cookie Dough?
Make the cookie dough as instructed in the recipe below.
Once you’ve cut out the Christmas trees, place Christmas trees on cookie sheets that are covered in parchment paper.
Place unbaked Christmas cookies in the freezer for one hour.
Once frozen, gently place raw cookies in freezer-safe ziplock bags.
Place layers of parchment paper between each cookie.
Freeze up to six weeks.
