- 1 pack all beef hotdogs
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup corn meal
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 2 tbsp shortening, melted
- 1 cup milk
- 3 cup oil
- 8 skewers
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, corn meal, sugar and baking powder.
- Add egg, melted shortening and milk. Mix until smooth batter forms.
- In a deep pot, add oil and heat to 350°F. A candy thermometer works great to regulate the temperature.
- Pour batter into a tall cup.
- Skewer the hotdogs and dip into the batter.
- Place the battered hotdog in the hot oil spinning it as it drops. Fry until crust is golden brown. Rotate the corn dog to cook all sides evenly.
- Let cool and enjoy.
