Five years ago our family packed up our belongings, bid farewell to friends and relatives and traveled to a new land. This new land was filled with new smells, sights and sounds.
It didn’t take long for us to enjoy the Asian delicacies of Cambodia. Sure, we had eaten Chinese food at the local buffet, but this was different!
The sauces and spices were new to me. It took quite a while until I was able to start re-creating these Asian dishes in my own kitchen.
Now, our family enjoys Cambodian dishes several times a week. One of my favorite meals to cook is a stir-fry. Why? Because it is simple, fast and uses little meat. I also love how all the flavors seem to compliment each other. I also love watching my kids eat loads of veggies in one sitting.
This is a simple recipe that doesn’t call for many foreign ingredients. This is a dish I can make many times when the pantry and the fridge are becoming bare. You can always change out the veggies, and even leave out the meat completely if need be. But, most of the time I try to get our protein in with our veggies.
Don’t you love a colorful plate? I have been taught that a colorful plate is a simple way to add a healthy boost to your diet. This recipe nails it with the orange carrots, green broccoli and white cauliflower.
If you make this dish this week, you have to pair it with Asian white rice—Jasmine rice is the popular type of rice sold in the U.S. You can find it at almost any grocery store — even Aldi!
Enjoy the taste of an Authentic Asian stir-fry in your very own home!
