Kids Love These Rainbow Sugar Cookies!
It’s rainbow recipe season!
That means super-fun crafts and recipes that are full of colors — like these easy rainbow cookies!
My kids love making these with me.
Rainbow Sugar Cookies Are Perfect for Kids!
We talked about all the gorgeous colors in rainbows and learned how each rainbow follows the perfect color pattern — every single time.
I had to giggle when my five-year-old thought I was super-mom when I changed the color of this cookie icing to baby blue.
He ran and bragged to his siblings, “Hey! Mom just turned the icing BLUE!”
We made these super-easy by using store-bought sugar cookies as our base cookie.
But if you want to go the extra mile, and sometimes we do, you can whip up a batch of soft homemade sugar cookies like these.
But if you’re short on time, your favorite break and bake sugar cookie will do just fine!
This is definitely the perfect cookie decorating idea for a group of kids — at church, at a party or just a family fun night.
Kids of All Ages Can Make Rainbow Cookies
And it’s perfect for so many ages — toddlers can learn colors and help press the chocolate candies onto the cookies.
Older kids can pipe on the icing and basically make these cookies entirely on their own!
Sometimes super-cute cookies are daunting to me.
In fact so daunting I may just have to grab some store-bought ones that are decorated oh-so-cute so I don’t reimburse myself with all my imperfections.
But these cookies?
Even someone who finds her hands all messy with frosting or fondant can pull these off.
No super-talented, over-experienced baker needed!
Rainbow Cookie Decorating Tips
will give you one tiny tip that will make your cookie decorating life just a smidge easier.
For Perfect Rainbow Cookies Use a Toothpick
Yes, those are waaaaay more useful for cookie decorating than picking your teeth!
Use them to gently move around the edible pearls so you don’t smear your beautiful frosting all over the place.
And as a busy mom of six kids, I need something that’s cute and quick.
If you’re in the same situation as me, you can still smile, relax and bake some adorable, rainbow cookies that you kids will always remember — in just minutes!
You can see how easy these adorable cookies are in the video below!
To make my cookie baking easier I always, always, allllllwaaaaays use parchment paper on top of my cookie sheets.
I just bake and toss those things to keep clean-up a minimum!
Celebrate the spring, summer and St. Patrick’s day all in one simple, oh-so-adorable sugar cookie!
