How to Make Unicorn Rice Krispie Treats

1. Prepare a 13 x 9 baking sheet with wax paper and a spritz of non-stick cooking spray.

2. Melt butter in a large saucepan over low heat. When the butter is melted, add the marshmallows and melt, stirring constantly. Remove the saucepan from heat.

3. Fold in the cereal. Stir until the cereal is coated in the marshmallow. Then, add the sprinkles. (Cook’s Note: The sprinkles will melt but give the treats a pearlized shine. The sprinkles do harden the treats slightly but still taste great.)

4. Using a buttered spatula or greased wax paper evenly press mixture into baking sheet. Cool completely.

5. Use cookie cutter to cut treats. If the treats are loose, press additional krispy mixture into the cookie cutter before releasing the shape onto waxed paper. Reshape the remaining cereal in your baking pan until all is used.

Can You Freeze Rice Krispie Treats?

We don’t recommend freezing rice krispie treats, but it is possible.

You can freeze the treats, once cooled, for two months.

However, fresh treats are best for the extra gooeyness!

Making Rice Krispie Treats Tips

To prevent any kind of sticking, line your muffins tins with greased parchment paper.

I lightly spray the parchment paper with a little nonstick spray.

Also, some people prefer a browned butter flavor.

After making this recipe one time, try using browned butter for a more golden type of flavor.
